This FAQ is a quick and dirty reference to the Exodus Exports Rental Guidelines. For the full scope of the rental terms, please read the guidelines in full rather than just this summery. By commencing your rental, it is understood that you agree to the rental terms.

Q) I have rental servers, but I don’t want them on the sales floor. Is there somewhere I can stash them?
A) Yes, feel free to put them on any available shelf in the server room. This applies to magicboxes too. Just be aware it will count towards your prim use.

Q) Where is the server room?
A) The server room is in the rental office, located on the top floor of the mall (any teleporter in the sim can take you straight there). You’ll need to wear your group tag to open the door.

Q) I have a business partner, can I add them to the group?
A) Absolutely. Contact Viola Dagger or Trance12 Farquart to have your partner added to the group.

Q) Can I add a partner to my rental box/meter?
A) This feature is relatively new with casperlet. It can be done, but only you as the primary tenant will be able to pay rent to it. It will count your prims collectively, which is important since your prim counts are combined under the same tenancy account. If you use the hud to count prims, you will have to add your prim count to your partner’s on your own. To add a partner to your rental box/meter, IM Trance12 Farquart and request it (offline IM’s are forwarded to email).

Q) Is there a way to easily count my prims without doing it manually?
A) Yes. By the front door of the mall there you will find a vendor that can provide you with a prim counting hud for free. Buy the hud (for $0L) wear it and click it to count your prims. You can also try clicking on your rental box/meter but it may not be the most up to date count.

Q) What kind of items can I sell?
A) Nearly anything. You may not sell “adult” rated material on this sim however. Please see the knowledge base regarding ratings. We support original content creators and legitimate resellers. Individuals suspected of selling copyotted materials will be investigated, reported and evicted without refund. In addition, “security” devices such as Voodoo, Phantom Zone, CDS and similar systems which harvest IP addresses are not permitted to be used or sold anywhere in Exodus Properties, including Exodus Exports.

Q) What kind of devices can I use to prevent copybotting?
A) Honestly, there is NO such thing yet on the grid. Such security devices only boot the stupid copybotters who use old programs that are easily detected or who let themselves get caught. Most newer CB programs circumvent these devices with incredible ease. Uploading content to SL is a risk you must endeavour to take, for even someone with some sophisticated computer knowledge can capture content from their cache using any legitimate official or third party viewer.

Q) Why can’t my vendors have hovertext?
A) They can ONLY if they are far away enough from the wall that it doesn’t poke through to your neighbour’s unit. If your vendor is on the back wall where there is no neighbour, and it doesn’t leak out the side to your neighbouring wall, that’s fine too. You can also use vendors with “smart hovertext” that disappears shortly after the vendor is clicked on. The reason is simple, it’s confusing to customers and disruptive to other tenants.

Q) I don’t like the colours on the floor and walls, can I change them?
A) In the mall, yes you can put up your own prims with your own textures, but they will count towards your prim use. If you use Phoenix, Firestorm Beta 3 or LL’s V3 you will be able to make your own large prims exceeding the 10m limitation. With the exception of your store sign however, your prims must not extend beyond your unit.

If you are renting a portobello, you may not use decorations or change the appearance of your unit.

If you are renting a mainstore, you may change the textures, cover the prims with your own, or replace the store with your own. The exterior MUST fit the look and feel of the surrounding area.

Q) I have models. Can I put pose stands out for them?
A) You can put your own pose stands within your unit, which will count towards your prims. If you want pose stands outside your unit, they can be provided for you, and will reside on either side of your units entrance (provided stands will not count towards your prim usage, but are provided as-is).

Q) Can I use campers?
A) The long answer is; the only way we could do this while remaining in search compliance, would be to create a separate parcel for campers and ensure said parcel isn’t “show-in-search” enabled. This is a lengthly proccess to set up and would require changing the way the sim and buildings are situated. The short answer is no, it’s far too much trouble and we don’t want to be penalized for gaming traffic.

Q) I noticed other Exodus group members post on this blog. Can I post on this blog too?
A) Absolutely! Who wouldn’t want a bit of free publicity? All swooters and tenants are welcome to use the blog to promote their SL related products and services. Non-SL swooters may also use this blog to promote their services. To be an author on the blog, you must first register on the website and retrieve the automatically generated email. Then, send an in-world IM to Trance12 Farquart with your request to change your role from Subscriber to Author. (Non SL swooters may simply leave a comment below, I’ll see it eventually ). All members posting on this site must adhere to the website TOS.
