I’d say probably around 80% of the time, most people don’t need an invite bot.  Most people don’t encounter a lot of group griefers or have to worry about a large amount of land rentals.

However, those with real estate services or those whom manage/own groups that are very popular and attract a lot of users, etc. may benefit from a bot.  Here’s what a personal bot can do:

NOTE: By closed, I of course mean closed enrollment.

  • Send invitations to closed group when a user pays a rental box for the first time.
  • Send invitation to a closed group when resident wishes to join a support/upgrade group for a store or other establishment (when the resident click on an interface, or uses a proximity greeter.  Also works with SHX greeter boards).
  • Eject a tenant from a group when they abandon their tenancy or fail to pay their rent and their box removes them (this is restricted to casperlet.  hipporent users must eject manually).
  • Allow tenants to add friends and partners to the land group via special interface (hipporent users only)
  • Blacklist specific users from being able to join the closed group.
  • Monitor group chat and filter for certain words or phrases. For example, you might configure the bot to send a warning to someone if they use the word FUCK.  If the user repeats the word, the bot will eject them from the group.
  • Send one-time notices and group IM’s.
  • Send pre-configured notices and group IM’s at scheduled intervals.
  • Provide an interface for hipporent tenants to add more than 1 partner and add other guests and friends to the group without having to grant them specific invite rights.
  • Answer IM’s with pre-set pandorabot responses when IM’d (swooters can recall GARY, but without all the perverted rudeness).

I initially started using a bot months ago to help me manage Venus Envy and prevent group chat abuse and spam.  I now use the bot to help V-ola manage their group as well, keeping out abusive people they have blacklisted.  She is also used to send invites to new Exodus Exports tenants, making it much easier for new tenants to start setting up shop without having to wait for myself or Viola to log in and send the invite.

If you wish to set up your own bot, this would cost you between $L79-$L479 per week, depending on the type of services you want.  As it is now, I pay full price for all of the bot services, using one of my own alts which is now designated as a legal, registered scripted agent.

What I’m offering, is if there is a group you would like to have help managing with a bot, I will set that up for you for a mere $L30/week.  This fee would help me pay for service fees, and can help you with managing your groups.

If you wanted to use my bot for your group, here’s how it would work.

1. I’d give you a moderator password for the bot’s web interface where you can manage

  • Group Chat (chat access, ejecting spammers, sending IMs)
  • Group Notices (sending scheduled notices)
  • Managing group IMs (including scheduled)
  • Manage inviter settings
  • Access to the Tenant Inviter web interface

2. I would give you an admin security password so that you can use the bot with any hipporent, casperlet or caspervend interface.

3. You would come to the Exodus Exports mall and pick up (for free) any interface you might need (such as hippo plugins). http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Tall%20Walk/146/69/559

4. You would create a role in your group call it whatever you want, but give it the following abilities:

  • Invite people to this group
  • Eject people from this group (unless you’re using the bot only for casperlet and you don’t want to auto eject people after their rental ends)
  • Assign members to Assigners Roles (make sure you also put the bot into any specific roles you want, if it is more than just the “everybody” role)
  • Remove members from roles (again, except if you wish to avoid auto eject)
  • Send notices
  • Join group chat
  • Moderate group chat

5. You would need to IM me and let me know you wish to do this, so that I can temporarily turn group acceptance on so that you can invite the bot to your group. Please first ensure she has the proper role already set up, then I set up her web interface.  You also need to tell me which roles you want the bot to assign people to, so that I can configure that in her web interface (unless you’re using the hipporent plugin, then it doesn’t matter).

6. You will use the payment interface in the rental office that you would need to pay every 7 days from the time you begin using her services.  If payment is more than 12 hours late, she will leave your group and you lose her services.  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Tall%20Walk/120/50/573

7. If your group debits her account for group liabilities (such as “find in search” fees) I will monitor her debits and expect compensation.  The compensation can be paid via the kiosk provided in the rental office. If compensation is not paid within 72 hours, the bot will abandon your group and you lose her services.

8. If you’re desperately bored and want to flirt with the bot, you can IM the bot at any time and she’ll respond to you (her IM’s aren’t logged as far as I know, I certainly don’t have access to them, so you can possibly expect some privacy).  This portion of her services is absolutely free and open to everyone, not just swooters XD.

If of course you would prefer to have a bot hosted directly from a bot service with just invite/eject abilities for your rental or vendor applications for $L79/week, you can get all the info you need and use the payment terminal in the Exodus Exports mall: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Tall%20Walk/146/69/559
